Day 23 Lumpkins to Pilot Grove, MO (Todd LoFrese)

We are not in Kansas anymore. Overnight storms delayed our start this morning out of KC. After about 35 miles of riding we had second breakfast at a delightful cafe in Pleasant Hill, MO adjacent the Rock Island Spur to the Katy Trail. After breakfast the crew relished with being off the roads and realized it would be that way for the next 200 or so miles.

The overnight rain softened things up on the trail so it was slow going in some spots. There were also a lot of sticks down from the storms that we had to dodge. Aside from that we were generally under a canopy of trees for most of the day.

At about mile 100, I spotted a bicycle shop, Pro Velo cycles in Sedalia. Lowell helped me with a quick repair to a damaged light mount. A+ service and what looks to be a great shop!

We rolled into the Katy Junction Bed and Breakfast and was warmly greeted by our host Jerry Selbach. After a quick shower we enjoyed a nice dinner together prepared and cooked by Jerry.

Everyone was zonked from a long ride today and in bed early.
