The end is close, but not today. Another early start with hotel coffee and pastries. We began the morning with a full assault on the breakfast bar. Those morning calories burned off quickly for me after the first hour. However, I was ready for the calorie bonk with a bagel PB&J that I had stuffed in my frame bag. Went perfect with root beer.
As Andy and Todd crushed the short 75 mile course, I easy pedaled and made an additional two stops for cold drinks and chats with locals.
Georgia has not let up on the climbing. The past week’s mileage and climbing totals are equal to that of the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountain totals. Even though we’re from the east coast and are familiar with western Carolina climbing, the ups and downs have taken a toll on the legs!
Our extended afternoon will provide us time to refuel our tanks, rest the legs, and strategize our breakfast plan. See y’all tomorrow…
