The adventure continued into Kentucky. Our day began early in Carbondale with coffee, fruit, and yogurt. The headlights were on high beam as we set out for Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
The route put us into beautiful rolling hill as we headed south for Metropolis and an appointment with Superman. If you’re a fan, this is where you need to be!
The second breakfast was a delicious stack of French toast. The locals gave us a nice sendoff and warning of the state line bridge. “Don’t look down,” warned one the gentleman!
Crossing into Kentucky, the metal grate bridge offered an up close view of the Ohio River. I was glad to be done with that one!
Into Peducuh, the adventure continued. We had to traverse suspect roads, barricades, and closed gates.
Arriving in Grand River was a relief from the increasing mid day heat. This evening will include lots of calories, planning, and strategizing for tomorrow’s big day. Lot of miles and climbing! See y’all tomorrow….
